Jimmy began his bowling
career in 1980 with his mom. His nickname back then was
"Rocket," because he threw the ball over 20 miles per hour.
His dad taught him some of the basics about bowling, but for the
most part, Jimmy taught himself to bowl by watching other
high-average bowlers and PBA members.
One of the saddest moments in
Jimmy's life came with the passing of his father in 1999.
Shortly thereafter, while preparing to bowl in league on the
night of his father's birthday, Jimmy dedicated the night to his
Dad, telling his brother that he desperately wanted to shoot 300
that night, in honor of his father and friend. And while
Jimmy fell ever-so-slightly short of his prized goal, the 299
game he shot that night -- the result of 11 strikes in a row
followed by a solid nine-pin -- was one of the most profound,
inspiring, heartfelt performances bowling will ever see.
Most embarrassing moment?
Jimmy's most embarrassing
moment came as the result of a 240 game which featured 11-of-12
strikes. How is that possible, you may ask? Let's
take a peek . . .

Yep, you got it. Four
strikes in a row, followed by two consecutive balls off the
ankle and into the gutter, then going off the sheet. 240.
Pretty cool, huh?
Most heartbreaking moment?
Jimmy's lifetime high series
was also his most heartbreaking moment as well. Needing a
double in the tenth frame of the third game for a prized 800
series and ring, Jimmy threw the first strike and then left a
stone eight pin in the eleventh frame for a 796.
Proudest statistic?
And finally, the statistic
Jimmy is most proud of is the fact that he holds the high house
average of all time in two different houses, averaging a 196 in
the very tough house of Simone's (Greenfield, MA) and shooting
213 for the season (four different times) at French King Bowl
(Millers Falls, MA).
Best of all, given the fact
that Simone's has closed its doors, and French King now only
serves candlepin bowlers, both of these all-time house records
will remain house records for all time . . . unless some
candlepin bowler gets hot beyond belief at French King Bowl,
that is!
